Come together with your nearest and dearest in this spacious period property near Lake Windermere. The property enjoys a quiet setting in a peaceful hamlet and would suit those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The large holiday home has ample space, indoors and outside, for spending quality time together. Nearby attractions include Beatrix Potter’s Hill Top and Wray Castle (both within 15 miles).

The 18th-century property is bursting with character and period features. Enter the large dining room, complete with oak beams and a roaring wood burner. This is the perfect place for hosting dinner parties, and also has a snug area to retire to with a glass of wine. The kitchen has ample equipment and worktop space for cooking on a large scale. Just off the kitchen is a utility room with dog beds and the all-important wine fridge! Steps lead down to the main lounge, which features another wood burner and French doors opening onto the garden. Heading upstairs, you’ll find three bedrooms, two of which have en-suite facilities, along with a handy office. A further ‘hidden’ bedroom with an en-suite bathroom is accessed via the lounge. A master king-size bedroom with en-suite facilities, a dressing room, and lounge area is located on the second floor. Outside, an enclosed garden awaits, with a choice of seating areas, BBQ, and stunning countryside views.

If it’s outdoor adventure you’re looking for, head to Bowness-on-Windermere (7 miles). You’ll find many companies, offering everything from ghyll scrambling and rock climbing to canoeing and paddleboarding. There are also some breathtaking walks from the town, including to the panoramic viewpoint of Orrest Head, and a wide range of independent eateries. You can also enjoy day trips to Cartmel, Kendal, and Hawkshead, all within 15 miles of the property.

Great location to explore the lake district. Good dog walk directly from the cottage. Deceptively spacious ... excellent family get together. Highly equipped... dishwashers, bean to cup coffee machine to name but a few. Owner very helpful and good comms. Highly recommended.

Damson Retreat proved the ideal location and house for our family holiday in the Lakes. Everyone was able to have their own space but also allow us to come together around the table whether indoors or outdoors for meals together. Large, pretty, cottage style house with plenty of space for large parties to get together. Situated in a lovely quiet hamlet with nice garden areas with lots of seating. We had a lovely week at Damson Retreat. The house is very comfortable, well equipped, very clean and warm. It's very well situated for visits to Bowness, Ambleside, Grassmere, Tarn Hows, Buttermere and we even managed to trip to the Wildlife Park at Bassingthwaite, which was really worth the visit. Probably the best equipped cottage weve ever stayed in. Fixtures and fittings plentiful and of great quality. Spacious- all the bedrooms are lovely but the best room is amazing!! The cottage has been thoughtfully equipped with more than enough of everything that you need to for such a large place. It also caters really well for a dog in the mix. Most of the rooms having ensuite facilities really works well and the rooms are all really beautifully set up. The cottage was amazing and every little detail catered for. Nothing was too much trouble and the cottage was spotless. We were made to feel very welcome and there was a lovely arrival hamper waiting. The surrounding neighbours were also friendly. We will definitely rebook in the future.

Wonderful cottage. We stayed for a long weekend in December and it was still warm enough with the log burners. Although it is a fairly large house with 5 bedrooms it still felt very cosy. EV charger was a real bonus. Would definitely stay again.
