Thoughtfully styled in Farrow & Ball paint colours, this property in the centre of the quaint village of Hawkshead has easy access to Lake Windermere and Coniston Water.

This delightful cottage is brimming with old-world charm and sleeps four guests across two bedrooms, set at the heart of a bustling village. Discover an area of the Lake District National Park that inspired William Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter, treading the same cobbled streets of Hawkshead and taking in the countryside views they would have once enjoyed too. Light the open fire on your return and snuggle up with hot cocoa, delving into your welcome pack of goodies for a few extra treats.

Climb the steps and slip through the front door to find a welcoming interior that’s rustic yet impressively chic. Wooden floors and comfortable sofas set the scene, inviting you to relax with a brew or play games around the table. There’s a kitchen area complete with all the essentials for cooking up a storm, plus the AGA is a fitting addition to the country-cottage theme. The lower ground floor houses the handy utility room and a shower room, and you’ll find the bedrooms on the first floor. Completing the property is a lavish bathroom with a roll-top bath. A parking permit for one car is provided for the village car park.

The village itself boasts a charming pub and a chocolate factory as well as numerous shops and eateries to peruse, and the stunning Esthwaite Water is a mere 1.5 miles away. Lake Windermere, 5 miles away, is not to be missed, whether you are gliding across the water on a traditional steamer or strolling around the shoreline. For the real adventure seekers, Grizedale Forest promises exciting treetop activities and woodland walks, 3.5 miles away. For historians, Wray Castle is a marvellous place to visit complete with mountain views, 3 miles away.

We loved this cottage - it was homely, close to the village, clean, well equipped and loved the log fire. We had some amazing walks and meals in the village. Great location and the free parking pass was a lovely touch. However the pictures are deceiving and the shower room was very disappointing . Poorly lit( gloomy) with a broken shower door and mould around the tray. No proper furniture to hang your clothes and definitely a problem if 4 people were staying ... second room has nothing at all! Lovely olde worlde cottage in the heart of Hawkshead village. Very traditional Lakes cottage feel to it and like stepping back in time but very quaint.
