A real character cottage on the outskirts of the village, this kooky property is filled with original features and colourful accents, a fabulous space for a family getaway. Stay with five guests and two dogs, making the most of the extremely comfortable interiors or suntrap garden when resting aching muscles after a long day of Cumbrian activities.
Antique furniture, original beams and farmhouse-style wooden doors add to the overall charm of this one-of-a-kind place. On the ground floor, find an inviting lounge and a well-proportioned kitchen/diner on hand for early morning and night-time socialising. The lounge, with its soft seating, wood burner and TV, is the loveliest place to while away an evening. You can, of course, step out into the sunny garden weather permitting, enjoying the view whilst BBQing or dining alfresco. Back inside, move upstairs to find three individually designed bedrooms, a king-size, a double and a final single. Each bedroom is served by a family bathroom, also on the first floor, and benefits from views that each guest will love to wake up to.
Just half a mile outside the village and an equal distance to Coniston Water, this cottage is well-positioned for all sorts of adventures in this neck of the woods. Rent some kayaking, SUP boarding or even boarding equipment at the nearby launch and prepare to explore the lake off your own back. You can also embark on a cruise on the National Trust-run Steam Yacht Gondola for an easy way to see the waters. You can also stay inland and get hiking, summiting The Old Man of Coniston Fell is a must for keen outdoorsmen.
