The charming cottage for two enjoys a peaceful setting within the Atkinson Ground Estate, close to the northern shores of Coniston Water. There are some stunning walks to enjoy in the surrounding fells, including the popular Old Man of Coniston (2.5 miles) and Dow Crag (16 miles). The cottage’s central location is perfect for exploring the South Lakes area, including Grizedale Forest (5 miles) and Lake Windermere (4.5 miles).
Open the oak door and step into the warm and welcoming kitchen/diner, which has a beautiful blend of period features and contemporary design. The stylish kitchen area has everything you need to whip up a tasty dinner for two, which you can share at the dining table. From here, stairs lead to the inviting lounge, where warm tones and a roaring wood burner create a cosy setting for romantic nights snuggled up on the sofa. A further flight of stairs takes you to the king-size bedroom, which features an ornamental fireplace and a pretty window seat. A separate bathroom with a whirlpool bath completes this sweet cottage. Outside, sip a morning coffee or fire up the BBQ on the enclosed patio to the front of the cottage.
Just across the water, 1.5 miles away, is the attractive village of Coniston. Here, you can board the Steam Yacht Gondola to get out on the water, or hire a rowing boat, kayak or paddleboard from the boating centre. After a jaunt on the water, refuel in one of the village’s many pubs or cafes. Brantwood House, the historic home of the art critic John Ruskin, is just 1.5 miles from the property. The estate sits right on the banks of Coniston Water, and is the perfect place to fully switch off and soak up the tranquillity of this quieter part of the Lake District.
