The charming cottage sits in the heart of the medieval village of Cartmel, close to its fabulous array of independent eateries and artisan shops. The property is a great base for exploring the Lake District National Park, with Lake Windermere just 6.5 miles away. Alternatively, spend a day at the coast at Grange-over-Sands (2.5 miles). At the end of the day, snuggle up by the wood burner or retreat to the summerhouse with a glass of wine and your favourite book.

The period property is decorated in calm, neutral tones and has been beautifully renovated to celebrate its original features. Enter the cottage and step straight into the welcoming lounge/diner, where you’ll find a sumptuous sofa in front of the TV/DVD, a perfect place to relax after a long walk. There’s also a dining table for enjoying romantic dinners for two and, on a winter’s evening, you can fire up the wood burner to create a cosy atmosphere. Completing the ground floor is a farmhouse-style kitchen, with everything needed for a self-catering break. The king-size bedroom is upstairs and has a sweet window seat with far-reaching views. Completing the accommodation is a stylish bathroom. Outside, soak up the sunshine in the enclosed patio garden, where you’ll find furniture for al fresco dining. There’s also a summerhouse with seating, meaning you can enjoy the garden all year round.

The picturesque village of Cartmel is a photographer’s paradise, with cute cottages adorned, a plethora of historic buildings – including a 12th-century priory – and a river running through its centre. The village is also known for its fantastic selection of eateries, from fine-dining restaurants to cosy cafes. The area is awash with popular walking routes, including to the summit of Hampsfell, which provides panoramic views of Morecambe Bay and the Lake District.

Lovely cottage in the heart of Cartmel . I would recommend but Please note steep staircase and no wood or matches supplied Welcome pack has tea coffee n sugar but no milk so come prepared as the shops shut early

Nice cottage in a great location. We had two main issues; a) The stairs are steep & narrow - people with mobility issues could struggle. Our dog slipped on a couple of occasions. b) We searched specifically for cottages with parking. This cottage doesn't have its own parking and the on-street is limited to 2hrs so we had to park at the racecourse -Read more 35 for the week / 0.25mile away. fortunately the weather was kind to us. Great location as a base for accessing the South Lakes. Not brilliant for walkers , limited areas to store boots and wet clothes if youre there in the water weather. Comfortable cottage for two. Plenty of hot water and heating worked fine. Cartmel is a lovely village, nice people and plenty of choice for evening meals. Small bedroom with a single wRead moreardrobe and limited storage space. We had a wonderful holiday in the Lakes. The cottage was lovely and in a perfect location. Cartmel is very pretty, excellent for exploring the lakes and great places to eat. Spent a lovely week in this beautiful cottage. It is absolutely immaculate with very high standard appliances (complete with instructions) it comes with everything you could need from slow cooker to high end vacuum cleaner. The standard of housekeeping is faultless and there was dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid and oven gloves to name but a feRead morew. Its location in the village means all the pubs and restaurants are only a few steps away . We love Cartmel & wouldnt hesitate to book again. Hide

There are many good things about this property including the location, the comfy furnishings, the nice toiletries, towels and welcome pack. We did not find it clean, there were cobwebs and mouse droppings. The WiFi is nearly nonexistent (0.48 mbps speed) and this impacted the smart TV performance as well. We found some kitchen equipment (grill) difRead moreficult to use. Still, we were comfortable, had lovely views and it was a good base for this area of the Lakes District. Hide
