Switch off and relax in this rural Lakeland bolthole, surrounded by mountains and far-reaching vistas. The area is a haven for walkers, and local routes include Skelwith Force and Loughrigg Fell (both within 1.5 miles). Its central location makes the cottage a great base for visiting Windermere, Coniston, and Grasmere (all less than 8 miles away). The spacious property sleeps six guests and has a choice of lovely social spaces both indoors and outside.
The traditional cottage has been decorated and furnished to complement its original style. The bright lounge/diner has dual-aspect windows, a beamed ceiling, a cosy wood burner, and comfortable seating. This is the perfect place to snuggle up for a movie night in front of the SkyTV. The separate kitchen is equipped with everything you need to cater for the group, and opens into a light-filled conservatory with spectacular views. A handy utility room completes the ground floor. The three bedrooms are upstairs, one of which has an en-suite shower room. A family bathroom can also be found on this level. Outside, dine alfresco on the raised deck whilst the children and dogs play on the extensive grounds surrounding the property.
Coniston Water is 8 miles from the property. Here, you can hire boats, paddleboards, and kayaks or board the Steam Yacht Gondola to get out on the water and admire the spectacular scenery. There are some beautiful walks around Coniston Water, including to the summit of Old Man of Coniston, which provides panoramic views across the Lake District. Heading north, you’ll soon reach the picturesque village of Grasmere (7 miles), the former home of William Wordsworth (visit his final resting place at the village church). Walks lead from Grasmere to Rydal Water, which is one of the area’s quieter lakes and is popular for wild swimming.
