Occupying a beautiful and secluded location around half a mile from Lake Ullswater, this stunning barn conversion is one of the finest holiday homes in the Lake District. A former Lakeland barn, the property has been sympathetically renovated to preserve its heritage and charm, while offering plenty of contemporary comforts. With its grand interiors and exquisite views, this spacious property creates a warm and welcoming space for family and friends to gather and create special memories.

The sheer size and superb attention to detail of this holiday home is impressive from the moment you step inside. The light and airy rooms have beamed ceilings, which are vaulted on the top floor, beautiful flagstone or oak flooring, lovely stone detailing, and solid wooden doors, complemented by contemporary furniture and select artworks befitting a grand country home. Spread over two storeys, it has a quirky, upside-down layout with the bedrooms on the lower floor and the main living space above. Gather in the formal lounge in front of a roaring open fire to relax after a day’s adventuring, or head down to the cosy snug on the lower ground floor, which offers a perfect space for children. The farmhouse-style kitchen features an AGA-style oven so you can whip up family favourites, before gathering in the formal dining room or dining alfresco in the large garden, admiring the beautiful views over the lake and valley. At the end of the day, the four spacious bedrooms offer a comfortable place to rest and recharge, ready for new adventures.

Often considered England’s most beautiful lake, Ullswater is the second biggest lake in the country, offering a wide range of activities and water sports. Take a boat trip on an Ullswater Steamer, head out to explore via kayak or canoe, or catch dinner on a fishing expedition. There’s plenty to do around the lake including walking, cycling, horse riding, and rock climbing, or you can explore the pretty village of Pooley Bridge (2.5 miles) or head to Howtown on the opposite bank (6.5 miles), home to one of the most beautiful walks in the Lake District.

Stunning barn finished to a high level, with fabulous views of the lake. Very spacious for the seven of us staying, with lots of places to relax, my favourite being the snug! This was our second time staying in Bank Barn, it's such a special house and location. The house has plenty of space, large bedrooms and ensuites, and is extremely comfortable, especially the beds. It has amazing views over Ullswater. It's in a really beautiful and relatively quiet part of the Lake District, with some spectacular walks nearby. Beautiful home with fabulous views over the lake. We enjoyed sitting out in the gardens - flowers were amazing. Super comfortable and warm. Everything we could possibly need. Beds were very comfortable and lovely bedding, towels and bathroom supplies (White Company). Wish we could have stayed longer!

Bank Barn is a little piece of magic in the lake district. The barn is in a perfect location for relaxation, peace & quiet. All wrapped up with spectacular views of Ullswater.. We had such an amazing time in the Lakes over the xmas/new year period and that was because of Bank Barn. Everything was perfect. The heating and facilities were just out of this world and everyone of us were warm and cosy throughout. This is a wonderful house full of character and warmth, the Owner clearly takes pride in their house and it was decorated and furnished with quality items. We stayed for Christmas and the Owner installed a massive Christmas tree and decorated it beautifully. The service was also fantastic. Fantastic week at this exceptional property. Spotlessly clean & beautifully decorated with a warm homely feel. Stunning views of the surrounding lakes and hills. Another fantastic stay in Bank Barn. This time we had the full gamut of Lake District weather from lovely sunshine to lashing rain and gales. But part of the beauty of Bank Barn is that you can sit luxuriously inside and watch the weather against the majesty of the fells.

What a great holiday! We didn't want to leave. Bank Barn is a lovely place irrespective of its location. It's spacious, imaginatively designed, warm and the owners have invested in the best furniture, kitchen equipment etc so everything feels built to last. But what a location! A beautiful & unique property with a lovely garden, perfect for enjoying the incredible views over Ullswater. Barn Bank is a stunning property with a fantastic view. The house is well appointed, very comfortable and relaxing. The communication with the owner and the manager of the house was rapid, friendly and easy. We had a great break here and would definitely like to come again.

Anyone who says 'don't go back to the same place; you'll never recreate the magic' has clearly never been to Bank Barn. It's a stunning house in a stunning location and every detail's been thought of. We're just back from our second visit and have already booked again for next year. Can't wait.
