Strike out from here on lake and fell walks or head into bustling Ambleside, 5 miles away.
Take a couple of steps up into the Cumbrian cottage, then from the hall make your way into the lounge. Stoke up the wood burner in here, switch on the Smart TV or DVD and unwind together after your exhilarating excursions. Stroll through to the kitchen to find everything you need to help you create exciting holiday dishes for your family and friends with produce you have bought. Sit down to eat together in the dining room, while another wood burner crackles gently in the background, or the French doors are opened up on warm evenings. Stay at the table to play a game before bed. Find you also have a downstairs utility room and WC. Make your way up to the first floor to discover a twin bedroom, a double and a single, plus the family bathroom. Sit outside in the courtyard garden, with a book and cup of tea, whenever the weather permits. Find space to store cycles securely and parking for two cars.
Venture into Ambleside to while away an afternoon or two shopping or having tea out in a cafe. Take a horse-drawn carriage 0.5 miles to Waterside Pier to catch a launch out on Lake Windermere. Head 3 miles to Coniston Water to embark upon the 14-mile circuit right around the lake, with its impressive views.
