Come and celebrate a special occasion at this gorgeous 17th-century cottage near the ancient village of Hawkshead. Surrounded by breathtaking countryside this rural retreat offers guests a peaceful and tranquil place to stay, where they can forget about the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Sleeping up to seven people, your group will find charming village pubs close by as well as the magnificent Lake Windermere and Coniston Water, which are both within an easy 5-mile drive of the property.
At the heart of this home is a social lounge/diner with traditional ceiling beams and a lovely wood burner. Light a fire and watch the flames flicker as you relax on the comfy seating with everyone. Use this space to plan your next day’s adventure or head through to the kitchen to plot a glorious walk while the chef of the group dishes up supper. Dig into your dinner at the large dining table or head outside into the beautiful garden for an al fresco meal. There are large sloping lawns, which are perfect for letting children run off some extra steam before bed. There’s even a pretty stream with a small waterfall in the grounds where snowdrops line in the late winter. When sleep beckons, choose to rest your head in one of the four bedrooms: two kings, one twin and one single.
For water lovers, Lake Windermere and Coniston Water provide the ultimate adventure with canoeing, kayaking and paddleboarding on offer. Grizedale Forest is an easy 3-mile journey and a must-visit, especially for groups with little ones. As well as a number of majestic walking and cycling trails, there’s also a Go Ape High Ropes Course where you can test your nerve and swing through the woodland.
