In a quiet valley on the edge of Grizedale Forest is this marvellous 17th-century cottage, which is brimming with rural charm. Groups of up to four people can access the forest’s unrivalled views and rambling routes via a bridleway from the front door. As well as an exciting playground for children, Grizedale boasts a thrilling Go Ape high ropes course and an abundance of idyllic walking and cycling trails. Lake Windermere and Coniston Water are both less than 10 miles away from this holiday home and are perfect outdoor destinations for adventurous families.

This lovely traditional Lakeland cottage offers guests a spacious open-plan living area that’s brilliant for socializing in. Step into the welcoming lounge/kitchen/diner and light a fire in the open fireplace. While the flames crackle and fill the room with warmth, why not sit back and relax on the comfy sofa? Enjoy a comforting cup of tea as you catch up with your loved ones and watch a film on the TV or spend time preparing a delicious meal in the kitchen area. Eat at the dining table or head outdoors to the beautiful orchard gardens where you can eat al fresco style. The large lawn area is great for little ones who need to burn off some extra energy at the end of the day. When bedtime comes calling, you’ll find two bedrooms on the first floor: a twin and a double.

This retreat is fantastically located for exploring Lake Windermere and Coniston Water (both within 9 miles). The popular village of Hawkshead is just 5 miles away and the small town Ambleside, 10 miles away, boasts a number of fine restaurants and bistros for guests to peruse.

The location of this character cottage was perfect for us. Quiet, with walks straight from the doorstep but still within easy reach of the local towns. It was well equipped and the host living next door was very welcoming, friendly and helpful. The enclosed orchard was fantastic for our dog and little one. Our 1 year old was unfortunately unwell foRead morer the majority of our stay which limited our chance to get out but being in such a wonderful location and cottage made it a pleasure nonetheless. The cottage was the perfect place to stay for our first visit to the Lakes. Really cosy and lovely and cool during the recent heatwave. Very easy to get to local areas like Coniston, Windermere and Ambleside. The orchard was absolutely brilliant for the dog to run around too, as I'd struggled to find somewhere with a properly secure large garden.

I spent three weeks in August here, and it was a base for me and visiting family members for hikes of all sorts, and some lazy days by the fire. I think the location is perfect, and the cottage is comfy and quiet. I would definitely want to stay again in the future.

A perfect place to stay. We have two dogs and a baby and it was great. Lovely well equipped cottage in a peaceful location but straight onto walks for the dogs. Great enclosed space for them to run around in just across from the front door. Could not ask for more!!

We so enjoy staying at Low Dale Park. The cottage is very well equipped and extremely comfortable. The owner is always very welcoming. The location is beautiful. The dog had such a great time running around in the very secure orchard. We have returned to this wonderful cottage many times.

Beautiful rustic cottage in the gorgeous countryside. Huge orchard garden perfect for pets to run safe in. Endless walks from your front door.
