Enjoy a peaceful getaway in this cosy cottage for two, in the coastal village of Allonby. Set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, you’ll have easy access to a gorgeous beach and dramatic coastal paths. Heading inland, you’ll soon reach the Lake District National Park, with Bassenthwaite Lake and Skiddaw within 20 miles of the property. The romantic retreat has a cosy lounge with a wood burner effect gas fire to relax in front of after a long walk, as well as an enclosed garden with far-reaching countryside views that’s ideal for four-legged guests. The traditional cottage offers a home-away-from-home stay, with exposed woodwork and neutral decor. The welcoming lounge has a feature exposed beam running across the ceiling and an ornamental stone fireplace housing the wood burner effect gas fire. Snuggle up on the plump sofa together, to share a bottle of wine and watch a film on the TV/DVD. The double bedroom boasts delightful rural views and has an additional single bed if required. Outside, dine at the outdoor table and chairs and take in your peaceful surroundings, admiring the views across the open fields to the fells beyond.

Allonby has a long sand and shingle beach, backed by sand dunes. Enjoy wild walks along the shore or join the Cumbria Coastal Way which leads to the Scottish border. This stretch of coast is treated to some truly breathtaking sunsets, so be sure to head down to the beach with a camera to capture some memorable moments in the golden hour. The majestic lake of Bassenthwaite makes a lovely day out. Wander along its western shores, admiring the spectacular reflections, before climbing Skiddaw to take in the panoramic views. ABSOLUTELY PERFECT! Beautiful, clean cottage and surrounding areas. And the owners are fabulous too, organizing some amazing birthday treats (with the help of my daughter) for my arrival. We will definitely be returning!

Parts of the shower had mould. Difficult to wash at the bathroom sink without banging head on the ceiling. Anyone six foot would struggle.

We had a nice few days. The cottage was clean and well appointed. The walk down the road to the lovely beach was fine and there is a footpath from Marina House but it's a bit over grown. Very nice area to stay.

It was perfect. Everything you need for a weekend stay. Comfortable, clean and warm. Mrs Hale was a great host, we arrived late on Friday and she had put the heating on and left some food, for us to rustle up if hungry. We will be going back. Great location Great walks with the dogs. Thank you

Very nice clean cottage. Dog enjoyed the 1/4 mile walk from cottage to road twice a day. However we were disappointed that we had to drive to the beach. Although it is within walking distance it is a very narrow winding road with tall hedges and we didn't consider it safe to walk
