Where is Peter Rabbit? The Old Laundry Theatre, Bowness-on-Windermere, until 3rd September 2017
Last year this show was incredibly popular, so if you didn't get to see it, the good news is it's back for 2017! Inspired by Beatrix Potter's famous children's stories, 'Where is Peter Rabbit?' is a theatrical treat full of vibrant colour and sound. Penrith Show, 22nd July 2017
The Penrith Show is just one of many traditional agricultural shows to take place around the Lake District, and was first held in 1834! With entertaining main ring attractions, competitions for livestock, horses, rabbits, poultry, horticulture and show jumping, and food, crafts and trade stands, there really is something for all the family!

Rock the Fells Arts and Music Festival, Bootle, 22nd July 2017
Back for 2017, Rock the Fells is expanding to four stages this year, with over 30 performances by acts from around Cumbria and the UK. There'll be food, teas and cakes, and fine craft ale. Younger members of the family can try something new with 10 creative workshops throughout the day! Book in advance online.

Coniston Country Fair, 23rd July 2017
A traditional Lakeland fair on the stunning shores of Coniston Water, 2017 will see the introduction of the Fell Pony Display Team, who will give two demonstrations during the day. Other things to look forward to include falconry, shows for foxhounds, terriers, beagles, lurchers, Herdwick sheep, sheepdogs, and Cumbrian walking sticks, and a host of traditional Cumbrian sports!

Potfest in the Park, 28th-30th July 2017
Over 100 exhibitors from across Europe and beyond will once again be gathering at Hutton-in-the-Forest over three days for Potfest in the Park. It's a stunning venue, with a walled garden, topiary terraces and wonderful woodland walks too!

Cockermouth Agricultural show, 29th July 2017
The Cockermouth Agricultural Show is another great event at which to experience a taste of Cumbrian tradition, with displays of cattle, sheep, goats, horses and poultry. There will be sheep dogs, foxhounds and terriers, sheep clipping, sheep dog demonstrations and Cumberland and Westmorland Wrestling too. There'll also be a beer tent serving locally brewed real ales!

The Cumbria Steam Gathering, 29th & 30th July 2017
The Cumbria Steam Gathering is renowned for its displays of vintage machinery and vehicles, with plenty of other things of interest to see, too! Families can look forward to the Food Hall, Clip & Climb climbing wall, Broke FMX extreme Moto Cross display team, entertainment, archery and more. It's a great day out for everyone, young and old!

Lake District Summer Music Festival, 29th July-11th August 2017
This international summer celebration of chamber music takes place at venues around the South Lakes. There are over 40 events to choose from featuring young musicians, opera, collaborations, and performances from local societies, and including intimate concerts, film screenings, and classical masterpieces.

Potfest in the Pens, 4th-6th August 2017
A sister event to Potfest in the Park, which takes place in July (see above), Potfest in the Pens features both established and up-and-coming ceramic artists under the cover of Skirsgill Auction Mart in Penrith. There will be demonstrations, free hour-long classes for adults, throwing classes, a clay corner for kids, tools, suppliers, kilns and many displays of pots to choose from!

Lunesdale Show, 8th August 2017
Another fantastic country day out, this time in the south of the Lake District, is the Lunesdale Show in Kirkby Lonsdale. A traditional agricultural country show, there will be all the usual shows of cattle, sheep, sticks and crooks, horses and poultry, as well as a dog show with over 120 classes. As well as Cumberland and Westmorland wrestling you'll find a craft marquee, food hall and displays of vintage machinery and vehicles.

Lowther Show, 12th & 13th August 2017
One of the area's largest gatherings, Lowther brings together world-class sporting championships, demonstrations and over 250 high-quality exhibition stands. Events include rounds in clay shooting, gundogs, airguns, angling and terriers and lurchers, as well as horse carriage driving trials and the Lowther hound show. If you're new to country sports, you'll enjoy tuition and advice in a range of activities, and there'll be a food and beer festival, as well as picnic areas, and crafts and antique fairs.

Cartmel Races, 26th & 28th August 2017
Totepool Cartmel Cup Day on 26th August is the opening day of the August meeting, and is one of the most popular days at Cartmel Race Course, with the final race day of the season on August 28th. Suitable for families, why not enjoy the funfair in the course enclosure, and a picnic too?

Medieval Muncaster, 26th-28th August 2017
August Bank Holiday sees Muncaster Castle return to the 15th century, with re-enactments from the time of the Wars of the Roses by the Red Wyvern re-enactment society. Find out what life was like, and watch a siege re-enactment as part of your visit!

Grasmere Lakeland Sports and Show, 27th August 2017
167 years old this year, Grasmere Sports is another of the Lake District's traditional events not to be missed. Competitors take part in a variety of sports, including Cumberland wrestling, fell running and hound trails.

Keswick Show, 28th August 2017
The Keswick Agricultural Society was founded in 1860 and back for the 2017 season is the Keswick Show. Alongside competitions for cattle, ponies, horses, sheep, dogs and poultry you'll find home produce, crafts, horticulture, and fell races, as well things to do for children, a good range of trade stands, and a vintage display by the West Cumbria Vintage Club.
