We have recently taken on two lovely new cottages ideal for families and couples.
Wasdale View is part of a row of lovely character cottages at Santon. Looking out over a small green to the front, and the fells of Wasdale Fells to the rear, you can see how the cottage earned its name. Well suited to a family break, there are two single bedrooms, a double and a flexible room, which can be made up as a super-king or twin to suit your needs.
If you are thinking of a last minute break in West Cumbria then there are plenty of family friendly events going on over the next few weeks.
Summer Events start at the Helena Thompson Museum in Workington from this weekend. It is a great choice for a rainy day. On the coast at Maryport you will find activities for all ages at the Senhouse Roman Museum, with a rolling programme through the summer. The weaving and spinning will appeal to those of an artistic persuasion whilst the children’s make your own sword workshop sounds like great fun (for adults too maybe)!
Swallow’s Rest on the other hand, is the perfect place for a romantic getaway. Suitable for two people, the apartment is part of a barn conversion, which has taken advantage of lots of gorgeous original features including beams and sandstone steps. The open plan living area features a brand new kitchen, luxurious sofas and wi-fi throughout.
Like the Eden Valley, Swallow’s Rest is a little oasis of serenity whilst the crowds descend on the popular Lake District destinations. Here you can enjoy glowing sunsets over the distant Lakeland fells, convenient access to the magnificent Pennine hills and the historic Hadrian’s Wall.
Carlisle Racecourse hosts a full ladies day on 6th August. Lady jockeys provide the racing action, prizes are on offer for the best outfit, and in the evening a fashion show is followed by a DJ set from Sara Cox.
Dalston Show takes place at the Showground on 11th August featuring the best in Cumbrian and Border agriculture. My favourite is the terrier racing!
