Muncaster Gardens

Now is the time to visit Muncaster (Western Lake District) - the gardens are looking amazing.  It must be the first time I've seen daffodils, bluebells and rhododendrons all out at the same time.  I blame the weather! We were only there for four hours and it wasn't long enough but we managed to walk along the Georgian terrace with its pretty summer huts, the stunning ghyll (with pigs at the bottom), the bluebell walk, the Himalayan section and visit Meadowvole Max in his Meadowvole Maze - a brilliant attraction for the kids aged 6 and under (and possibly a bit older too - I'll let you know once my kids get older).  A quick trip to the playground and cafe and that was four hours taken up.  We didn't manage to visit the World Owl Centre or the Castle itself ... we'll be back though.

Muncaster Gardens, Lake District (handy for Eskdale cottages)

Muncaster is within easy reach of our Eskdale Cottages, Ravenglass Cottages and Wasdale Cottages.  We came from Keswick though and it was well worth the hour's drive over Cold Fell.
