This characterful self-catering cottage is perfect for a romantic New Year getaway as the interior has been lovingly refurbished to provide a high quality, luxurious oasis. The owners of Swallow's Rest have renovated the interior to a high standard, exposing the original roof trusses and purlins and creating a contemporary yet cosy space for two. The barn is built from the local Eden sandstone, with a beautiful external staircase leading to the entrance door.

Swallow's Rest does not accept children or infants and is therefore perfect for an adult getaway; enjoy a glass of wine in front of the wood burner to celebrate the New Year.

Set on the western edge of the Lake District National Park, the area around Lamplugh offers some gloriously unspoiled countryside as well as easy access to the coast. There is so much to explore within a few miles' radius of the cottage; from tranquil tarns and gentle river strolls to wonderfully picturesque lakes and mighty fells. If you'd like to explore local town life you could head to the charming town of Cockermouth, which offers a wide choice of opportunities for bringing in the New Year.

The Grade II listed Eamont Bridge itself, once the ancient boundary of Cumberland and Westmorland, lies right outside the door. Rivermead is a wonderfully accessible gateway to any number of Cumbrian delights, and would make for an exciting and varied New Year break.

Brewery House in High LortonBrewery House is a property with fabulous character, full of warmth and life.  Here you will find a wealth of sumptuous textiles, exposed wooden beams and floorboards, selected stone and slate walls, and antique furniture.  Built in the 1830s it originally started life as part of the Jennings Brewery (which is still brewing beer to this day), providing accommodation for the workers and stabling for the shire horses.  It has been converted to the highest of standards.   

The house is situated on the outskirts of the quiet village of Lorton, surrounded by beautiful scenery with a babbling brook running alongside it.  The pub in the village has won several awards and serves good food and real ales, and there is a village shop which sells locally sourced food.  Book a break in Brewery House and enjoy your celebrations in true luxury.

Middle Row Cottage, Wasdale

The farm, owned by the National Trust, is a traditional working farm with a flock of Herdwick sheep. The cottage was once a farm workers’ cottage and has recently been renovated and modernised to make it a warm and comfortable place to stay for your New Year break.

Wasdale boasts England's deepest lake, highest mountain, and smallest church. It is also the birthplace of British climbing, with excellent climbs of all grades, and a playground for local diving clubs. Middle Row Cottage is a great option for a varied and exciting New Year break.
