December is here and Christmas has well and truly arrived across the Lake District and Cumbria! There are hundreds of festive events taking place across the county and we're excited for Yuletide crafts, glasses of mulled wines, and that warm Christmass-y feeling everywhere! Read on for a pick of some of our favourite events taking place in December!

Forest Christmas Fair
Be overwhelmed with that Christmas smell of pine at Whinlatter Forest! Buy your sustainable real Christmas tree, browse for gifts at the market, meet the alpacas, listen to some Christmas music, enjoy some mulled wine at the café.

Scrooge: A Christmas Carol Film and Dine
Enjoy a Dickensian three-course meal before you sit down and watch a film adaptation of Charles Dickens' classic Christmas story of a greedy banker who discovers the spirit of Christmas.

Pantocrime Murder Mystery
Comedy, Christmas and murder come together in a pantomime-themed murder mystery evening! When the star of a pantomime is found murdered during the final rehearsal, it's down to you to discover 'who dunnit'. This evening of fun also includes a three-course meal.

Christmas Cracker Crafts Party
Make your own deluxe crackers with this afternoon workshop that involves crafting and party food! They'll make a special addition to your Christmas dinner table and the handmade gifts that you will create for inside will delight the recipients!

Natural Christmas Wreath Making

Festival of Christmas Music
Keswick Choral Society's annual Christmas celebration is back with a selection of popular Christmas songs as well as new pieces including a specially commissioned song called 'Be Merry' by Tamsin Jones.

Painting Snow Scapes in Acrylic and Pastel

Keswick's Own Christmas Proms
Presented by Keswick Rotary Club and raising funds for local scouts and guides groups, this night of Christmas music will be led by professional singers Graeme Danby and Valerie Reid. Award-winning band NASUWT Riverside Band and St Herbert’s Primary School will join them to create an evening of true Christmas spirit!

Christmas Tales with Grandad

Winter Solstice Guided Walk
Celebrate the end of darkening nights with a guided walk to mysterious Castlerigg Stone Circle, which sits above Keswick. A log will be lit to celebrate the returning of heat and light to the sun and druid Daru McAleece will carry out a ritual and a short talk on the stone circle.

Get on your feet and dance towards Christmas with a fun and informal ceilidh! The live band will accompany you and a caller will teach you the steps, so no prior knowledge is required!

Santa's Boat Building Workshops
Children can play elf at these workshops, where Santa needs help building boats in time for Christmas! With an introduction to traditional boat building, kids will then make their own miniature versions - a great chance to learn and have fun at the same time! Don't forget to wrap up warm, as some of the workshop takes place outside.

Glass Blowing Experience - Christmas Bauble
No experience is necessary at this very special glass blowing workshop. Create a decoration that you can hang, pride of place, on your Christmas tree! Choose your colours, apply to the molten glass and shape your creation with the glass blowing process.
