Birkrigg is a large farm cottage in the special location of the Newlands Valley. Birkrigg benefits from an elevated position and uninterrupted views of glorious mountain scenery including Catbells, Robinson and Blencathra.
The cottage sleeps six people in three bedrooms, offering comfortable and homely accommodation with a newly refurbished open plan kitchen and dining room. The location on the Newlands Pass between Braithwaite and Buttermere is an ideal base for walkers and cyclists looking to explore this north-western corner of the Lake District. There is superb walking straight from the door either on the valley floor or into the surrounding fells.
Keswick is a ten-minute drive away offering a wide selection of pubs, restaurant and shops. The Swinside Inn is well worth a visit, located on the other side of the valley and reached by a walk of just over a mile along the valley roads. There are two great pubs in Braithwaite and in Buttermere, Braithwaite also has a well stocked village shop.
Birkrigg is featured in the popular BBC Drama, "The A Word" as the family's home.
