A wonderful stay at barn cottage, the location is fantastic for walks from the door and local pub The Sun Inn is a great end to a day’s walking. A very picturesque position next to open field and under Skiddaw. The cottage is very comfortable and sweet with lovely interior decor and wood burner. We really loved our stay and would definitely stay again.
The only very minor down fall was when we arrived the cottage didn’t seem very well cleaned but this was easily remedied.

Hi Victoria, thank you for taking the time to write a review. I'm so pleased you enjoyed your stay, it's a real home from home isn't it? The perfect place to come home to after a day out exploring. And the location is stunning, I hope you enjoyed some great walks.
I'm sorry to hear that some of the cleanliness wasn't up to scratch when you arrived, I'll make sure I address this with the cleaner. I hope you can come back to explore more of the Lakes soon.

The cottage was ideal for myself and my son(aged 12) to explore the northern lakes. Roy and Chris were extremely friendly and helpful hosts. They brought us eggs from the chickens on the allotment and there was plenty of wood for the log burner. We probably didn't really need to light it but it just made the cottage so warm and homely that we did use it on the last couple of nights.
On the first day we walked from the cottage up Skiddaw and 7 hours later wearily arrived back. The next days were a bit more restful with trips to the excellent Lakeland Wildlife Park (5 miles away) and kayaking on Derwentwater. After that a bit more walking and a tour of the Honister slate mine.
The cottage had everything we needed although I appreciate that some people may prefer a shower rather than a long soak in a deep bath. The village has a pub that does meals but if you need to stock up on food it best to do so at either Keswick or Cockermouth. Parking is expensive in Keswick if you intend visiting for any length of time.

Hi David, thank you for taking the time to write a review. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. It's a real home from home isn't it? And the location is stunning. It sounds like you and your son had a great time getting out exploring. I bet it was a treat to come home to that cosy log burner after a day out in the fresh Lakes air.
I hope you can come back for some more adventures in the Lakes soon.
