The starting point of many different walks, you could try a different one each day without even getting in the car! Hike up St Sunday Crag or Dove Crag - the stunning views from the top are certainly worth the climb. Walk through woodland to find Lanty Tarn or head to the neighbouring hamlet of Hartsop where you can enjoy a walk at picturesque Brothers Water. Spend a day at, in or on beautiful Ullswater; enjoy a lakeside picnic, the well prepared can wild swim, hire a boat or hitch a ride on the popular "steamer" and let someone else do the hard work.
On a fine day, take a scenic drive over Kirkstone Pass - the Lake District's highest, and down into bustling Bowness-on-Windermere. Here you can indulge in some retail therapy, enjoy a light lunch at one of the quirky cafes or visit The World of Beatrix Potter attraction. Why not head North and spend a day in Keswick?
