This is a great place to stay if you like walking as you can enjoy plenty of walks straight from the doorstep. The cottage was excellent with two good bathrooms and a very comfortable living area. Very clean and tastefully decorated. The only slight negative is the state of the track up to the cottage especially the last bit up to Wood Barn. Nevertheless, we will be returning in the not to distant future as this is a great place to relax and enjoy nature.

Hello Brett, Thank you for taking the time to write a review. It's a gem of a cottage, isn't it? You couldn't have picked a better location to explore the beautiful Lakes and get out and about on some great walks. Here's to more Cumbrian adventures!

A comfortable, well-equipped cottage in a fantastically peaceful location. You can do various walks straight from the back door and have easy access to two pubs serving great food. We particularly loved the views and the ponies that popped down to the gate to visit every day. Would highly recommend West Lakes Adventures for activities and the Brook House Inn for Sunday lunch.
However, if you want/need internet access during your stay be aware that the WiFi is very slow and patchy. If we'd have been at Wood Barn on our own we would have loved the off the grid feel, but during wet weather, with two teenagers, it wasn't ideal.

One of the best Lakeland cottages we have stayed in. Such a fantastic peaceful location but still close enough to shops and pubs. We did a few walks from the cottage, also close enough to get round to Wasdale for Scafell Pike and Great Gable walks.
Really clean and well equipped cottage. Loved the downstairs rooms for boots and dog stuff. Also sitting out on the decking area which catches the sun morning and evening. Really friendly and helpful owners.
The only downside was the poor wifi connection, didn't bother us too much but not great with a teenager in tow!
We'll definitely be returning
