We enjoyed our week - wonderful location and great spot to be for walking and if you want to escape WiFi it’s a treat! Two pubs and an excellent cafe but no local shop. Cottage lovely - a little weary like my legs - but remember to bring basics like washing up liquid - tea towels were provided and beds comfy. Wood burner was great too- tiny sitting room heats up fast!

Hi Carrie, wood burners are great, aren't they? You really can't beat a cosy night in after a long day on the fells! Here's to more Lake District adventures!

A great location, fell / lake walking straight from the door. Two pubs with good menus and choices of local ales and Ice cream parlour / cafe. No WiFi in the cottage and no service on phone (we use Vodafone) but can nip to one of the pubs to access their free WiFi. Would definitely come back thank you.

Hi Rebekah, thank you for taking the time to leave some feedback. I'm glad you enjoyed your break. The location is hard to beat if you enjoy getting out for some good walks. And having a choice of places to eat or enjoy a drink withing walking distance is always a bonus. I hope you can come back to explore more of the Lakes soon.

The cottage is lovely, and has a really cosy, old farm house feel to it. Perfect location in the heart of Buttermere, with a nice cafe next door, and pubs a few minutes walk away. Little garden opposite was nice to use on a warm day, although lots of people walk by so it's not overly private. We were lucky enough to have nice weather so we were warm indoors, even on an evening, without having to put the fire on. Bedrooms are a good size and also warm. The living room and kitchen are smaller than they look on photos, but still ample room. My only gripes would be that there was not any hand wash provided. Nor was there any tea/coffee/sugar. I know it's self catering but these small gestures would save you having to buy more than you need. Also, there was only 1 roll of toilet paper, so we ended up having to go to the nearest town to buy more. However, the most inconvenient thing for us was the lack of washing machine, especially as we had our 4 month old baby with us, who wears reusable/washable nappies, and goes through an awful lot of bibs and clothes! Luckily we had family staying elsewhere nearby who were able to help with the washing, but if this isn't an option it isn't ideal. All that being said, we would definitely book again as we really enjoyed our stay in this cottage. P.s mind your head on the doorways, especially the front door! Husband is 6ft 1in and had several bumps on his way in and out ?
