- Whent Cottage was lovely. Very comfy beds, a well equipped kitchen and spotlessly clean. The one downside was maybe the limited comfy seating in the small living room but you expect to be out and about much of the time, given the location with its proximity to the Lakes and the coast. We had cause to phone Sally's Cottage helpline as the electricity had tripped on arrival but it was soon sorted out by a very helpful and courteous member of Sally's staff. Parking is also quite tricky at the front of the cottage with even an average sized car, but possible if you are careful. Amazingly quiet location and comfortable - we slept well! Ravenglass has limited facilities so make sure you stock up prior to arrival, but that's part of the charm. The little steam railway is literally on the doorstep, and there are a couple of pubs in the village. We were attending an event at Muncaster Castle, which is an easy 20 minute walk up the road. The bird display at Muncaster is HIGHLY recommended.

Ravenglass & Eskdale steam railway and Muncaster Castle are two fabulous days out - I'm so pleased you enjoyed the fantastic bird display at Muncaster.
