My sister and I absolutely loved the cottage overall and were sad to leave. We were disappointed to find the two local pubs next door had shut down, and this was one of the selling points of the cottage. They have been shut down since the start of the year.
We were also gutted we had to leave our dog at home as the cottage write up said no pets, but when we got to the cottage there were guest reviews in the book saying how they bought their dogs, and there was a sign on the stairs saying no dogs upstairs.

Having stayed at another of Sally's Cottages before, Tanyard cottage, they supplied a starter kit of kindling to get the fire going- this would have been a nice addition on arrival, but that's just being picky.

But overall, brilliant location, lots of stunning walks and pubs within a short drive. I would definitely stay here again. Cannot recommend enough.

Hello Lucy, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. It's a super cosy cottage, isn't it? You couldn't have picked a better location for exploring the beautiful Lakes and getting out and about on some great walks. Thank you also for your feedback - I will look into this further. The decision to allow dogs in a cottage is at an owner(s) discretion and can change at any time. I'm thrilled you had a really great stay and I hope you will plan a return visit very soon.

Lovely little cottage. Everything we needed, very clean and the bed was so comfortable. When we initially searched for a cottage our criteria included pub with in half a mile. Unfortunately both pubs in the village are closed. Not the owners fault out of their control but website does need to be updated. However this did not impact too much on our holiday we found others places to eat further afield. Easy to explore the The Lakes from the location. We mainly went for the hiking so drove out every day to the area we wished to explore. No phone reception in the cottage but the Wifi was fine so used that for calls. Would recommend.

Hello Jill, Thank you for your review. It's a super cottage isn't it? Thank you for drawing my attention to the pubs - I will look into this further regarding communication. I'm delighted you found some alternative pubs offering food - it's always a bonus when someone else does the washing up! You picked a fabulous base for exploring the Lake District and getting out and about on some great walks. I hope you will plan a return visit to the beautiful Lakes very soon.

No pubs in village so have to travel if you want to eat out little information in the cottage about local eateries we put some information up about a pub we found. Only other issue was no towels provided which increases packing most places you go these days provide towels

Janet, Thank you for your feedback - it's a real home from home isn't it? There are some fantastic places to visit and explore further afield which do require transport. The cottage does not provide towels and guests are advised to bring their own. I note your comment regarding eatery information and I will look into this further. I hope you had a really great stay and will return to the Lakes very soon for your next holiday.
