Nestled in the lovely village of Spark Bridge across from the banks of the river Crake is Turners Cottage, a delightful terraced house for two. A former mill cottage, this place has traditional character details everywhere and a gorgeous welcoming feeling from the moment you step through the door. Curl up with a book in front of the open fire on chilly nights, sit outside with a glass of wine listening to the sound of the river bubbling past on sunny evenings or just enjoy a long lie-in in the four-poster bed. Just the ticket.

Spark Bridge is blessed with fantastic surroundings. The choice of walking nearby is excellent, The Cumbrian Way passes nearby on Lowick Common while the Furness Fells and Grizedale Forest Park are on the doorstep too. Why not take a walk or a bike ride around Grizedale's inspirational sculpture trail! Or take a walk down to Ulverston and enjoy the panoramic views of Morecambe Bay from Hoad Hill. You can reward yourself on your return with a pub meal at one of the two village pubs within walking distance.

Only slightly further afield guests can explore two of Lakeland's most loved areas. Coniston village is just under 10 miles away but you can be on the shores of Coniston Water in just under four miles. Why not mess about in boats on the lake that inspired Ransome to write Swallows and Amazons! Alternatively head to the bustling town of Bowness on Windermere just over 12 miles away for some retail therapy or a jaunt out on one of the steamers. For the foodies among you the area is a paradise with no less than four Michelin starred Restaurants within easy driving distance. Wherever in the South Lakes you'd like to explore, Turners Cottage makes a cosy and welcoming base from which to do it.
