We really enjoyed our holiday at Turner How. The cottage was a perfect size for our party of 10. The location is stunning, gorgeous views from every window. Local walking, some direct from cottage and some very close by so only a short car journey, we found the Western lakes lovely and quiet compared to the more touristy/popular areas. Lots of helpful information about walks in the cottage provided by the owners. The younger adults loved the pool table downstairs.
We would agree with an earlier reviewer about the outside seating area, we would have liked a sun parasol and comfier seats, also a new bbq would be nice, we bought a disposable one as didn’t feel the one provided was good to use.
The cottage owners live very nearby, really friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed the lovely welcome pack provided with delicious treats and some essentials.
We felt it would be useful to mention in the cottage description that there are many little steps within the cottage , each floor is not level, the cottage is characterful with all the little ups and downs but for an elderly person it might be tricky and good to mention so that guests are aware beforehand. Also to mention the large garden is great for dogs but it is not secure if you have a small dog, there are gaps around the gate that a small dog could escape through -
All in all we had a fantastic holiday and will definitely recommend the cottage to others. We had beautiful weather (hence the need for the sun brolly and our keenness to use the outside space to the full I guess)

Fabulous cottage, we love cooking and the kitchen was extremely well equipped, cleanliness was ok but windows, skirting boards and shelves were all very dusty and windows not clean at all inside.
Only other complaint was could have done with some comfortable garden chairs, especially for the elderly members of our family.

Hi Joanne, thank you for taking the time to write a review. I'm so pleased you enjoyed your break, it's the perfect place to relax and recharge the batteries isn't it?
I'm so sorry to hear that some of the cleanliness wasn't up to scratch when you arrived at the cottage. Thank you for bringing it to my attention, I'll make sure I address it with the cleaner. I've noted your request for some comfortable garden chairs too. I hope you can come back to make more memories in the Lakes soon.

We’ve just returned from a fantastic stay at this gorgeous cottage, located in quiet and beautiful countryside with fantastic views from every window. Previous reviews are accurate and Turner How was perfect for our multi-generational family group. It is large, welcoming, comfortable and very well appointed, with plenty of room for all and a lovely garden.
The location is scenic, peaceful and quiet with plenty of walks straight from the doorstep or within 10 minutes drive. One we’d particularly recommend runs along the hills and through an attractive wooded area to picturesque Crummock Water, which itself is beautiful and perfect for swimming and SUP. We also enjoyed walks around nearby Buttermere and Loweswater.
Cockermouth was an easy 15 minute drive for supplies and there is a fab local shop in nearby Lorton for necessities.
With so much more to explore we’d love to return and we would definitely recommend this cottage. Many thanks Belinda and Andy
