Sweet in every respect, Toffee Cottage is a contemporary gem of a holiday home in glorious Langdale. Sleeping up to four people in two delightful bedrooms, this deceptively spacious mid-terrace cottage occupies a wonderful elevated position next to a traditional slate quarry with superb views of the surrounding fells. The owners have designed the cottage to make maximum use of light and space and decorated it with modern flair making a gorgeous base for your South Lakeland adventures.
The cottage is situated in Chapel Stile, a charming village within the outdoor enthusiast’s haven of the Langdale Valley. The fell walking here is second to none with the iconic Langdale Pikes, Bow Fell and even the mighty Scafell Pike all accessible for the well-prepared hiker. Part of the 74-mile, well-trod Cumbria Way passes the door if you’d like to take on a section or two. There are plenty of lower level walks available as well including along the glistening Great Langdale Beck to Elterwater. You could always stop at one of the valley’s much-loved pubs as a reward.
Chapel Stile is happily placed within easy distance of many Lakeland attractions. Ambleside is just five miles away where you can hop on board one of Windermere’s heritage lake steamers to take in the stunning scenery from the water. A short trip will take you to Brockhole, the Lake District Visitor’s Centre. Children will love the high ropes course and tree top nets here; just the place for your monkeys to swing about in the canopy. Alternatively take some time to pamper yourself at the nearby Low Wood Bay Resort and Spa in Ambleside. However you choose to spend your visit, Toffee Cottage makes a gorgeous base from which to start.
