The Mews was superbly located in a beautiful spot and the large picture window in the upstairs sitting room was great to look out of onto the views. As far as the cottage was concerned. If we had been 20-30 years younger it would have been ideal but for folk in their 70s who are a bit old fashioned in their outlook, the "shabby chic" approach was not really our cup of tea. We like drawers and cupboards to put things in and need good lighting to be able to see but do appreciate that this is just us. The beds were very comfortable, the bathrooms and showers worked well and were very nicely done. The staircase was a bit precarious and one of us did slip and fall down them at one stage but no real harm done. The heating system was all over the place coming on at 3.00am with a temperature of 28 degrees and then nothing during the day or evening. Someone had obviously tampered with the time clock and it was quite a complicated system but the man next door was brilliant and fixed it for us.
The dogs absolutely loved it there with all the fields just outside the door. We would certainly recommend this place but it just wasn't for us.

Hi Lesley, thank you for taking the time to write a review. I'm glad you enjoyed your break. It's a lovely place to escape from the hustle and bustle for a while isn't it? I bet the dogs were in their element with all those lovely walks on the doorstep.
I'm so sorry to hear that one of you had an accident on the stairs, I'm glad it was nothing serious. I really appreciate your feedback and will look into everything you have mentioned, thank you.
If you would like any help choosing somewhere to stay for your next visit to the Lakes just get in tough and I'll be happy to offer some suggestions.

A wonderful holiday setting, cottage well equipped and comfortable. Our only complaint is as it is dog friendly, future residents should be aware that there were a lot of dog hairs on settees and rugs which did cause our party problems.

I'm sorry to hear that some of the cleanliness wasn't up to scratch when you arrived. I really appreciate you bringing it to my attention and will make sure I address it with the cleaner, thank you.
I hope you can come back to explore more of the Lakes soon.

First of all would like to mention what brilliant customer service from Sally’s cottages. My MIL fell critically ill and they and the owner allowed us to swap our dates last minute (I think may have been the day before) which we are so greatful for so thankyou.
The cottage is beautiful, the interiors are lovely and lovely views. Extremely well stocked kitchen even had spices and medication!! This is an isolated cottage however as long as you have car you will be fine. Local supermarket in cockermouth is about 10 min drive I think. Can’t think of a bad thing to say about the place but warning if you are in the family room the bunk beds aren’t full sized beds (we were ok as children were staying in there)
