Barrow in Furness Family
The cottage we stayed at was lovely and it had everything we needed. It was very comfortable and the scenery was beautiful and we would love to stay there again in a couple of years because we loved it there.

We had a lot of problems at the Lodge. The electric kept cutting out so, for the first three days we were continually resetting the fuses. The central heating didn't work on the clock so we had to switch the boiler on manually in the morning and evenings for the whole week of our stay. The plug in the sink in the bathroom didn't fit, so my husband, who wet shaves, had some difficulty. There was no shaver socket for anyone with an electric shaver. In the main bedroom the furniture was more shabby than shabby chic. The green velour curtains were not hung properly and were coming off the hooks. They looked dreadful. To hang your clothes there were hooks on the wall with about 6-8 coat hangers. Nowhere near adequate for two people. There was a wardrobe in the second bedroom but this only had 3 coat hangers in it. On the plus side, the caretaker, Steve, did his best to sort stuff out. He was very nice and very helpful. All in all we were extremely disappointed with The Lodge and feel the furnishings, especially, had been done on the cheap. They all looked as if they had come from other people who no longer wanted them. It was a great shame as the building and the location are lovely.

Hello Lynda, Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback from your stay at The Lodge at Winder Hall. I am sorry to hear that your stay at the cottage wasn't all that you expected it to be and you encountered these issues. I am currently liaising with the owner for you to look into these points. I am glad that Steve was able to do all he could to help - he is such a lovely chap! The property is in such a lovely location isn't it? I do hope you were able to enjoy the area during your stay and that you are able to return to the Lakes sometime soon.

Superb cottage in and excellent location. Just 5 minutes drive to wonderful Winlatter forest. The garden and fields beyond are lovely. Really enjoyed having access to a quiet walk besides the river. The facilities are great.
