We had a lovely time staying at the cottage! We stayed with our little boy and our dog.

Nice fenced garden for our dog. Lovely to have the underfloor heating as it’s autumn and was pretty chilly!

The log burner was really nice and relaxing.

The only tiny thing i could think of different is Perhaps having some more washing tablets for the washing machine as we could only see one.

Location itself at the cottage is really good, close by to get to the lakeside railway and a short drive to the nearest garage.

It’s very peaceful surrounding the cottage. There is a sign towards the high dam just to the left of the cottage.

We saw some reviews about there not being WIFi before we left so we’re prepared but it didn’t really bother us much it was actually quite refreshing!

Overall a lovely relaxing time at the cottage thankyou!

Overall the cottage was extremely clean, very warm, well equipped and everything works well. Ground floor area (kitchen, dining, living area) is nicely refurbished. Bathroom and single bedroom perhaps need a bit of TLC to bring them up to the same standard as rest of the cottage. Quiet village location with lovely walks from the doorstep. However directions to the cottage aren’t that clear and it was very hard to find when we arrived after a long drive. Suggest a more prominent name plaque on the gate or side wall of the cottage would help as the garden, entrance and house name are below road level so very hard to spot the house name from a car even in daylight and completely hidden when approaching from one direction.

We had a great long weekend at Tanyard Cottage. The location is quite isolated and there needs to be more local information in the cottage, as there is no signal or wifi. We followed the owners directions to the cottage, however, there was a major road closure and we couldn't get to the cottage and had to find our own way round another road. This is something that really should have been checked and mentioned to us before our stay.
The owners could put local maps of how to get to the pubs as we walked down the road, not knowing there was a path nearby and was quite dangerous.
The cottage is very quaint but could do with a little bit of TLC. When we arrived there was only half a roll of toilet paper, no blankets in the blanket box, thankfully we did bring one for our dog. The cottage description says the garden is enclosed, which is misleading as the gate has massive gaps in it which our dog managed to get through.
All in all, the cottage is nice, it's a little overpriced for what you get, but makes a good base for exploring the lake district. It's not somewhere to go and stay if you plan to walk to local amenities as there isn't much nearby.

Hi Kirsty, thank you for taking the time to write a review. I'm glad you enjoyed your weekend. It's a lovely place to get away from it all isn't it?
I'm sorry that you had a bit of a diversion on your way to the cottage, I hope it didn't cause too much inconvenience. I really appreciate your feedback and suggestions for improvement and will look into everything, thank you.
I hope you can come back to explore more of the Lakes soon.
