- Judy was there to greet us and made us feel very welcome. The cottage is homely and also the bathroom and kitchen are very nicely done and modern. It had everything that we wanted and was just about perfect and very good value for money. You could park easily outside, which is quite a bonus in this part of the country. There is a stream running over the road which is very pretty. i would recommend the walk up past Warcop Hall, in the village.
We visited Ullswater which is a pleasant drive and has lovely walks. We parked at Glenridding-perfect. The tourist information has lots of walking info. The scenery is amazing. UnFortunately our attempt to visit Windermere failed due to lack of parking! The cottage is also great for visits to Durham and Yorkshire. Bowes Museum was very enjoyable, as was Barnard Castle.
I would totally recommend Swindale Cottage, we loved it and hope to return.

Hi Janice, thank you for your lovely comments - Judy is wonderful, isn't she? I'm so thrilled to hear that you had such a fantastic time and got plenty of exploring done. Yes, Windermere can get very busy I'm afraid. Here's to more wonderful escapes!
