A really lovely quiet cottage, excellently presented and v. comfortable. The driveway is certainly a bit of a challenge regarding its width - we just managed to get our Honda Jazz up it without scrapes by retracting the wing mirrors. But the free carpark is v. accessible. V. useful shop opposite and Boot & Shoe pub is v. good. Ideal location for exploring north-east Lakes and Penrith area. A cake tin would be very useful, and a toast rack helpful, and mention that a hairdryer is provided would save space in a suitcase.

Hi Tom, many thanks for your comments, it really is a wonderful cottage isn't it? It sounds like you got plenty of exploring done too! Here's to more Lake District adventures!

A lovely clean quaint cottage located in a small quiet village, within easy reach of Penrith & Kendal and the many iconic towns, villages, lakes and fells of the beautiful Lake District. The cottage has all the amenities needed to cook meals and spend cosy evenings in front of a log-burning fire: but there are a number of local hostelries providing good quality food too. To be fair: the gated drive leading to the cottage is ‘challengingly narrow’! My Vauxhall Astra was a tight squeeze and great care had to be taken. There is a large free car park a short walk away in the village but when it comes to loading what you need at the start of a day out; and unloading everything when you return, having the car right outside the cottage door was much more convenient . . . If we went back to the same cottage again [and that is certainly something we would consider] we’d probably use my wife’s smaller car!

We wanted peace and quiet you certainly get that here tucked away at side of little school which you only here them at break time, don’t expect loads to do only 1 pub .1shop come post office that’s it , the church is nice and the castle is a pleasant short walk not open to public though, so it’s a car journey to Penrith or Keswick etc if you require anything else , there are plenty of walks hikes etc close by . Would we go back? Yes definitely
