The village of Greystoke retains the community facilities of a by gone age, with a village shop and post office, excellent pub serving food, cycle cafe and the added attraction of an open air heated swimming pool.
The village is also a great base for exploring the local area. The market town of Penrith is only 5 miles away and Keswick with it's many tourist attractions including Derwent Water and the mighty Skiddaw is just 13 miles away. The start of the route up to the summit of Blencathra, another of England's highest mountains, is 7 miles away.
For the walker and cyclist, Sunny Bank is ideally placed, both for cycling the quiet lanes nearby or walking in the nearby fells. Greystoke cycle cafe and tea gardens is a justifiably popular place for a quick refreshment.
The lake of Ullswater is only 6 miles away and gives you the opportunity to get onto the water by either sailing, taking a trip on a steamer or canoeing also has as its close neighbour the districts 3rd highest peak, Helvellyn. The areas local villages of Pooley Bridge and Glenridding both have shops, cafes and restaurants.
Rookin House activity centre offering archery, quad biking, horse riding and clay pigeon shooting, amongst many other activities, is only a 10 minute drive away. here is plenty to do in the area which ever type of holiday you are looking for.
