Spotlessly clean, warm & comfortable cottage.
Owners were on hand if we needed anything, but never intrusive. As we were there in the snow we enjoyed the log burner each evening, and were able to meet friends for hot mince pies using the immaculate garden. Very dog friendly- even extra dog towels were provided! Planning our next visit already.

This is our second stay at The Stick House and just as lovely as the first time! Beautiful quiet location and lovely to see the horses and sheep when driving over to other places. Great location and lovely little cottage with everything you need for a perfect break away! No pubs in walking distance but you can drive to one and we got a take away one night to take back. Definitely recommend staying here if you are looking at a break in The Lakes!

We have rented holiday cottages several times over the past few years. The Stick House is the best place we have ever had. It is very clean and spacious, well appointed and in a lovely quiet location, with some pleasant walks. We also loved the garden. The owners Paul and Ruth were really helpful, both in the run-up to our holiday and once we arrived. Hesket Newmarket is a short walk away. It has a pub and a village shop but little else. The pub food was good (we ordered a takeaway because of coronavirus).
The Stick House is ideal for a quiet holiday. Our girls loved it too. We would really like to come back.

Hello Jennifer, Thank you for taking the time to write a review. It's a gem of a cottage, isn't it? You couldn't have picked a better location to escape from the hustle and bustle for a while. The owners' are fabulous! I'm so pleased you enjoyed your stay and I hope you can come back to make more memories in the Lakes very soon.
