The Steading is a beautiful example of an 18th Century barn that has been tastefully converted into a self catering cottage full of character. The owners have carried out a sympathetic refurbishment to retain original features and compliment the period charm with carefully selected modern furniture and a new kitchen. The Steading is situated on the edge of a working farm in a peaceful village on the edge of the Eden Valley and the Lake District. The Steading has been awarded a 4 star rating by Visit England for quality in tourism.

The lounge features two large comfortable sofas perfect for curling up in front of the woodburner. Upstairs there is a king size bedroom and a double bedroom. The bedrooms and bathroom all feature skylights for star gazing at night.
Great Strickland is a small rural village on the edge of the Lake District and the Eden valley, close to Ullswater, Haweswater and Lowther deer park. The village is surrounded by beautiful scenery and is an ideal base for exploring this unique part of Cumbria. The village pub is a short walk from The Steading serving a good menu and local ales. The George and Dragon at Clifton is a ten minute drive up the road and has an excellent reputaiton for locally reared meat and home grown produce.
