The Stables is a characterful cottage situated in a building dating back to the 1860's, and as such retains many original features while also benefiting from all the more modern comforts and attention to design detail that you could wish for from a Lake District holiday home.
On entry to the rear of the house you'll find a beautiful stone flagged hallway with plenty of room for coats and muddy boots after long Lakeland walks. There's also an under stair cupboard and a the utility area with washing machine and tumble dryer.
The beautifully decorated bedrooms are both on the ground floor and have delightfully subtle decor and art works by local artists, as well televisions in each with Freeview. The main bedroom has a king-size bed, beautiful built-in wardrobes and dressing table and an en-suite bathroom with over bath drencher shower. The second bedroom also boasts a king-size bed and built in wardrobe and dressing table. This room is just across the hallway from the main shower room with its large drencher shower and heated floor.
Out of the front door you'll find a lovely gated garden with a dining area and lockable shed for bikes and other outdoor equipment. Situated, as The Stables is, down a quiet road, this garden is an ideal place to relax with a glass of wine on a sunny evening.
Onwards and upwards to the stunning open plan kitchen and dining area. Here you'll find plenty of evidence of the building's history with its high ceiling, exposed aged beams and wooden floorboards. The modern kitchen has been thoughtfully designed to include everything you might need including gas hobs, electric double oven and plate warmer, and microwave with combi oven. It has a built in dishwasher and fridge freezer nestled under the stunning Lakeland slate worktop and breakfast bar. For the caffeine fans among you you'll be delighted to find a Nespresso coffee machine (remember to bring some extra pods!). This room is a perfect place to cook and socialise with its substantial oak dining table and well-designed food preparation area, it really is a foodies' paradise. To top this off there are two lovely windows overlooking the front garden and a double sided wood burning stove which opens into the dining area and living room further through. An initial supply of logs will be provided. From the kitchen area you'll also find a small balcony and staircase leading out to the rear of the house and parking. Benefitting from morning sun this is a perfect place to enjoy a sunny morning cuppa.
After you've put the world to rights over your evening meal why not adjourn to the luxurious living room, here you'll find two elegant leather sofas, a window seat, a large Smart television with Freeview and several other Apps including NetFlix. There is a Blu-ray DVD player with a selection of discs. Alternatively why not curl up under one of the sumptuous throws and delight in a good book after you day's exertions?
