Skimming Stones is a light, spacious property sleeping 8 people ideally located just a short walk from Keswick town centre. The downstairs sitting and dining space is open plan and the 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, one of which is an en-suite, are all spacious and bright. All the bedrooms have views of the fells with those on the top floor having a wonderful panorama over rooftops with the fells crowding the skyline. The kitchen is modern and well equipped with plenty of scope for eating in when the lure of Keswick’s pubs, cafés and restaurants doesn’t prove too much! With two twin, one double and one king size bedroom the accommodation is flexible enough to suit an extended family, two families travelling together or a group of friends away for a break. Outside at the back of the house the pretty little enclosed yard faces west and catches the evening sun, a lovely spot to relax after a day on the fells.

Located just a couple of minutes’ walk from the centre of Keswick, Skimming Stones is perfectly positioned for you to take advantage of everything this popular and vibrant market town has to offer. Spend a day browsing round the shops, enjoy afternoon tea in one of the many cafés and take an evening stroll on the shores of beautiful Derwentwater. For a more active day there are many companies offering you the chance to try something a bit different; paddle boarding or canoeing on the lake, ghyll scrambling or rock climbing in the fells, mountain biking or orienteering in the woods or just put on your boots and go for a walk. There are a huge variety of walks to choose from ranging from a gentle amble to a serious mountain challenge - and enough different options to keep you going all week. If you get a wet day, check out The Puzzling Place, The Pencil Museum or the Keswick Museum, take a dip in the swimming pool with wave machine and slide or how about some indoor climbing on a climbing wall? Evening entertainment could include a film at the traditional and family run cinema or take in a show at the Theatre by the Lake. All this without even leaving Keswick!

If you do want to venture a little further afield, the whole of the northern Lake District is within easy reach. For those wanting to leave the car at home regular buses run down the Borrowdale Valley, over the pass to Buttermere and along the A591 to Grasmere, Ambleside and Windermere or you can use the timetabled launch on Derwentwater to stop off and do a walk around the lake or up beautiful Catbells. Being close to the A66 and A591 means nowhere is too far away; for a day away from the fells head north to Carlisle and Hadrian’s Wall, west to the coast to blow away the cobwebs on the beach, or spend a day relaxing in the spa at Armathwaite Hall. Whatever you like to do you are sure to find it within easy reach of Skimming Stones and with the bonus of having a lovely spacious house to return to at the end of the day you are on to a winner.
