Short Breaks - Information for Owners

As many of you are aware we've seen quite a few changes in the last couple of years in how people search and book cottages.

Short breaks searches have become much more prominent in the enquiries we receive from our visitors and where this used to be mainly exclusive to the low season (Nov-Easter) we've now seen a greater demand for this during the mid and peak seasons as well. Cottages which are able to offer a greater deal of flexibility in being able to offer short breaks have tended to fair well over the last 18 months and while it doesn't always necessarily work it certainly opens you up to a larger market. If you feel as though this may be something you would be able to accommodate at your cottage please don't hesitate to contact us in the office and we can discuss it further with you.

Last minute bookings have always been popular especailly during the low season but more so than ever this year and these are always very price sensitive. In Febuary we saw a large increase in the number of people booking cottages at the last minute but they were also looking for those unusual dates such as a Wed-Sat. We will always do our best to fill a gap you have at your cottage or if someone is interested in a short break at your cottage and you aren't currently offering one then we will contact you to see if it is something you may consider, apologies if you aren't really used to this approach but we're just trying to be as pro-active as possible in trying to do the best for you and your cottage.

We pay close attention to booking trends and industry surveys and a lot of the information we are finding is that people are paying more visits to the area in a 12 month period, they just tend to spend fewer days here during those visits which is probably why we are seeing the greater increase in short break enquiries.

As mentioned above, if you would like any further information or would like to discuss the possibility of offering short breaks during the mid season then please don't hesitate to contact us.
