As visitors travel along the road towards Keswick and the western Lake District, they cannot fail to notice the long climb up the hill, reaching the high point of the A66 at Scales. This is a popular starting point for walks up Blencathra, as there is a layby for parking and most importantly, an excellent pub.
Commanding a panoramic view across the mountain landscape is a barn conversion of 3 self-contained pet friendly Lake District cottages. Set back above the road, the barn has been converted into three homely cottages, all named after the striking mountain views you can see from the windows – Scales Fell, Clough Head and Blencathra.
Outside there is plenty of parking and a gravelled sitting out area for each cottage, suitable for barbecues and picnics.
You can rent the cottages individually or altogether to sleep 16 people, taking advantage of a 10% discount if all 3 cottages are all booked together.
You can read more about the traditional cottages, all of which are dog friendly cottages.
