Rowandene is a perfect cottage for dog lovers, sleeping two people in a super king-size bedroom just outside Cockermouth. A doggy welcome pack including throws, water bowl, ball and bags is provided. Situated on the banks of the River Cocker with its own private paddock, this sensitively refurbished Victorian farmhouse has views of the northwestern fells (Grisedale Pike, Hopegill Head, Grasmoor and Whiteside) and a picturesque 19th century stone bridge and paddock.
Dogs are welcome to swim in the river and play in the two-acre paddock, shared only with the handful of guests in the adjoining cottages. Just under half a mile of the river is privately owned by Rowandene, so fishing for salmon, trout and sea trout is permitted at no additional cost, just as long as you have the correct rod license. A footpath leads from the cottage into the lovely market town of Cockermouth (2.5 miles) and there are numerous pathways into the surrounding countryside. In fact, the National Park border lies just over the stone bridge!
The cottage itself is spacious and comfortable with full wifi access and a fully enclosed patio area accessed via the kitchen. With enticing mountain views from the living room, kitchen and bedroom, it doesn't take long to drive into the Lake District to bike, hike, climb, swim, or paddle; there's something for everyone in this peaceful area of English Lakeland. Rowandene can be booked alongside the adjoining cottage North Mill to accommodate up to 6 people
