We enjoyed our week at Rose cottage. Two couples and our Mum. The cottage was well equipped, warm and welcoming. The garden is lovely with a view of the fells and the spacious cottage delivers everything you would expect of a cottage this age, old beams, fire, lovely big farmhouse kitchen, cosy lounge, zero wifi! The cottage is well placed to visit the Northern Cumbrian coast with its Roman remains and the North Western fells and surrounding countryside along with Cockermouth, Keswick, Buttermere and Whinlatter forest park. The Royal Yew at Dene is excellent for food and sells BOGOF lunches.

Hello, thank you for taking the time to write a review. I'm glad you had a great week. It's a lovely place for a relaxing break isn't it? And the location is perfect for heading out exploring. It sounds like you had some great days out. The Royal Yew is brilliant, and such good value! I hope you can look forward to exploring more of the Lakes soon.

Beautiful, spacious and peaceful with the stunning views from the lovely garden exactly as the pictures show. Only reason not for top marks is there's no wi-fi or mobile phone connection. We don't go to the wonderful Lakes to surf the internet all day but its useful to be able to plan the next day's activities. The garden perfect and safe for the doggies and for breakfast soaking up the views and at the other end of the day for a glass of pop before dinner! Lots of room for a family or group of friends to spread out. Kitchen had everything and more by way of equipment and all easy to work - no induction hobs here to make the cook cry with frustration ! Never stayed in this area before and simply run out of time to go everywhere we wanted to. Nothing more than 30 mins away - huge beaches for safe and fun doggy walks, beautiful and historic Cockermouth in one direction, Bassenthwaite and Keswick in the other. Loweswater and the lovely Kirkstile Inn and lots of walking nearby. Yes we had a spectacularly good weather week but this cottage would be equally lovely in the cold and rain and in the Autumn and Winter curled up in front of the fire in the evenings with a book. Loved it !

We had a lovely 4 day stay in Rose Cottage, with a beautiful walled garden, perfect for the dog and as the weather was so kind to us my daughter and 9 month old granddaughter had a picnic in the garden whilst the men were out walking on the fells. Each morning found us vying for space on the window seat in the dining room enjoying the warmth of the sun through the window. It was a perfect location for us as our son lives close by in Cockermouth and with the kitchen being so big and yet cosy they were able to come over for meals. It is certainly a cottage that will be a pleasure returning to. Please don't change a thing about it.
