I highly recommend Rose Cottage. My favourite thing about this cottage was the garden which backs onto a wood which is great for Dogs. The accommodation had a nice feel to it and was very comfortable. We made use of the local shop and the pubs nearby. The welcome pack was a nice addition and included wine, biscuits, butter, bread, bacon and jam.

We had a lovely break and hope to go back next year (this was our 2nd visit) BUT we had to apent our first hour there spend our first hour there cleaning and sweeping the kitchen floor. Most worrying was a pill on the floor - later identified as an antidepressant - thank goodness we had no small children with us, and that we found it before our dog did.
And there is still no DVD player downstairs, despite assurances last year that this would be resolved.

Hi Hannah, very any thanks for your comments, I'm sorry to hear the cottage was not as you would have liked on your arrival, and I will certainly look into that for you. I'm delighted to hear you had such a lovely break and look forward to welcoming you back again next year.

We had a fantastic time at Rose Cottage. After a long journey we arrived to find an excellent welcome pack waiting for us. Phil the owner was very helpful sending information prior to our arrival and being accomodating regarding our slightly earlier arrival time. He also checked all was ok during our stay which was very thoughtful. The cottage is lovely, very spacious and equipped with everything you would need for a comfortable stay. The sky tv was very appreciated on Tuesday night for us to watch QPR live on tv!

The location is ideal for exploring the area and we did a lot of walking straight from the cottage. The access to 'Giggle Alley woodland from the garden was great for exploring Irton Fell and Miterdale.

The local pub The Bower Inn was a 10 minute walk away from the cottage, had great food plus was dog friendly. The staff were very friendly too. The local shop was very well stocked and open 7 days a week.

The only issue we had was the shower but Phil and the caretaker Sari couldn't have been more helpful in trying to resolve the issue although it wasn't sorted before we left.

Lastly we all had a great time including Stanley our Cockapoo pup and will definitely be back
