Location of Rockwood
From the M6 take A590 towards Lake District Peninsula, which is the south side of Windermere. As you head towards Newby Bridge/Grange-over-Sands, you see a right hand turn into Mill Side/Beck Head. The turn is just after the dual carriageway changes to single lane and is close to a speed traffic camera at the turn, please approach carefully.
Go over a cattle grid and proceed up the lane towards Beck Head. You will see a right hand turn that is clearly labelled 'Beck Head Only' showing a 'dead end sign'. This turn is next to a BT telephone, Royal Mail post box, Village notice board, local map and a bench. Proceed along the lane, keeping to the left (right goes up to a dairy farm). This lane is narrow, with a few passing points, but tends to be used just for a few residents, delivery vehicles and walkers, so please proceed carefully.
You will come to a small bridge that crosses the beck. As soon as you have gone over the bridge, take a left turn onto a tarmac drive (shared with Witherslack Cycle Barn and Rocklands).
Rockwood's gravel drive can take up to five vehicles, we recommend the two vehicles that are going to be used most frequently are parked side by side next to the front door, note that there are planters to prevent you parking too far back as the gravel drive drops down a level. For any other vehicles, please park down the drive in single file and ideally as close to the hedge as possible. This is to allow oil deliveries (four times a year) by a long heavy hose or any emergency access.
If you arrive during the night, there is a PIR sensor light that should come on by the drive.
We recommend the entrance to the drive is kept clear at all times. On bin collection day (Tuesday), for occasional oil delivery or where you are expecting a delivery, vehicles can access the property without obstructing our neighbours at Rocklands.
