- Lots of nice touches in this cottage. The garden area is excellent with a lovely bench and picnic table South facing looking over the valley. Lots of supplies for the log fire in the lounge and a good heating system. The shower, while electric, has a good flow and lots of space. There is an additional snug which gives space if there are 6 in the cottage. The owners are responsive and have put together a fantastic folder of information on things to do in the area including hand drawn walks and maps.
2 fridges and a slimline chest freezer make for loads of space but if you need any more specialised kitchen equipment you need to bring it yourself - including decent knives (as is always the case in self catering!).
The location is second to none - 25 mins from Wasdale, Wrynose pass, lots of nice walks from the door, Eskdale (for a great approach to Scafell area, climbing and scrambling), loads of good pubs in the area (Woolpack for pizza, Bower House Inn does great food).
The driveway is very narrow up a steep short hill - not suitable for a van - but there is parking in Eskdale. The Eskdale village store is excellent and only 2 mins walk up the road.
