Fantastic cottage in a perfect location to visit mountains and lakes, quiet little village so only one little shop so bring food and drink you need with you. Very well equipped with everything you need. We stayed over New Year so it was expensive but perfect for what we needed with 2 children and 2 grandparents. Had a lovely holiday and will definitely return!

We were a party of 4 adults 2 children and a dog for our Christmas break and the cottage was perfect. The location is stunning with lots of walks straight from the cottage, these can be found in the handy information pack. The cottage itself is warm and welcoming with everything you need (a large stockpot would be a good addition). Thank you John for the extra Christmas goodies and decorations, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The cottage is in a fabulous location with amazing views. The bedrooms are well set up and the kitchen has basic equipment and crockery as you would expect. I did feel that leaving the central heating on for only 4 hours per day in October was a bit mean as we arrived to a cold house. Also the main sitting room only had 5 seats - in a 6 bed house. One of the settees has its back to the window?! With that view? The supposed ‘snug’ is cold and dark and not snug at all, it certainly did not invite any of us in. Oh, and a rental property where you have to take your own towels? Really? In all I would say to rent this house if you are looking for somewhere in a beautiful location, but be aware that standards are not particularly high.

Thank you for your review from your stay at Rock How - the views are stunning aren't they?! The owners are more than happy to accommodate extra heating and visitors are given full control of the settings, should they need to change them. If you are ever unsure, just let me know and I can help you out. I am sorry to hear that the cottage wasn't exactly what you were looking for. We do our best to represent the cottage in the photographs and description and it is clear on there that towels aren't provided. The owners feel that they offer a reasonable price for the standard of accommodation provided. Eskdale is such a lovely valley and I am happy that you were able to enjoy this beautiful part of the world!
