Elect not to choose between sea and sand with a stay in the village of Ravenglass, the Lake District’s only seaside village with the national park’s world-famous fells and lakes within close reach.

Ravenglass is a unique Lake District village as it is the only seaside village in the national park. From the beach you can enjoy views to Corney Fell in Eskdale and Black Coombe whilst taking in the sea air - an unusual and truly lovely combination.

Situated on the Western peninsular of the Lake District, Ravenglass is a sleepy seaside village benefiting from coastal sunshine and within easy access of the mountains of Eskdale and Wasdale.

This property is a traditional fisherman's cottage beautifully modernised to a high standard to provide self-catering accommodation for four people. This stylish cottage has lovely sea views and a sheltered patio to enjoy them from over the estuary. The living accommodation is arranged upside down with the sitting room on the top floor and having picture window and balcony to enjoy the stunning estuary and sea views .

Ravenglass is a wonderful starting point for exploring the quiet western Lake District. There are plenty of walks either along the coast or over Muncaster Fell to Eskdale and beyond. It is also the starting point for the famous Ravenglass and Eskdale steam railway, which makes a leisurely 7-mile trip to the Eskdale Valley.

There are two pubs in the village and as well as a hotel and restaurant which is open to non residents, all of which are within a 5-minute walk.

The village shop and post office sells food and newspapers and there is also a gifts and crafts shop, which also stocks a comprehensive range of maps and guides. There is reasonable mobile reception on the beach and in certain parts of the property.

An entrance doorway leads from the street into the hallway. The property has beautiful local slate floors throughout the ground floor. On the ground floor are the bedrooms: one double and one zip-and-link bedroom. This bedroom can be made up as a twin or a king on request, it will be made up as a twin unless otherwise requested - please let us know at the time of booking. The twin bedroom is to the rear of the property, overlooking the estuary and has glass doors leading onto the patio. The wet room has a slate floor and a rainhead shower with long arm shower head, WC and wash basin.

Upstairs is the open-plan living area which has a lovely wooden floor throughout. The kitchen is fitted with local slate work surfaces, an inset sink, ceramic hob and electric oven. There is also an under counter fridge, small freezer, toaster, slow cooker, microwave, table and chairs.

The comfortable sitting room has modular chair/sofa seating, with beautiful views looking out of the picture window to the estuary and sandbanks. There is a TV and DVD player and a woodburning stove. A door leads out to the small balcony area with steps down to the enclosed patio. Wi-Fi internet access is available at this property.

Outside is an enclosed sheltered patio area looking out to the estuary. There is garden seating, to enjoy sitting out and watching the stunning sunsets. The patio area can be accessed either from the glass doors off the twin bedroom or down the steps from the balcony from the lounge.

The cottage has underfloor heating throughout and is non smoking.  There is also a washer/dryer available for use.

Delightful cottage and situation. Suggest if double used as twin beds they would be rather narrow. 2 cars can be difficult- parking rather expensive. No food shops in Ravenglass

This is a fabulous property in a brilliant location. A great base for exploring Eskdale and of course is the home of the brilliant Ratty railway. The view from upstairs over the estuary is a delight and is ever changing.

Delighful view, very comfy bed and sofa made this cottage above and beyond. Didn't turn the TV on once as was just mesmerised by the tide, birds and sunsets. It's a very peaceful cottage with everything you are likely to need. It amused us to go 'down the wooded hill' to bed. Will be booking again.

This property is one of the best we have visited over the years. Everything in the cottage is of the highest standard. It has been decorated beautifully throughout and is warm and welcoming. The ever changing view of the estuary to the rear of the property is to die for. We will certainly be returning in future.

Info says to leave cottage clean and tidy but we had to clean crumbs up from floor and table in kitchen diner when we arrived. Even if previous occupants hadnt done as they were told would have hoped person preparing cottage would clean up before we arrived as not our fault. Not fair we had to do it before we could start our holiday. Nasty smell inRead more wet room but seems its an ongoing issue by comments in book. Other than that its a great base in a fabulous location in a lovely quiet village. Hide
