Perfect holiday location for walks and cycling from the door. The train La’al Ratty stops right by too for trips to Boot and Ravenglass. Very relaxing place. Our second time here and hopefully not our last. The visit to Muncaster Castle was brilliant and worth a trip.

Rigg Cottage was the perfect place for our stay in the Lake District as we were looking for a location where we could escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The property is beautifully situated within the village of Eskdale Green along with fantastic surroundings.

The house itself had everything that we needed, including a modern kitchen, dining room, comfortable bedrooms and bathrooms. The living room was great for relaxing in during the evening after a day of exploring the Lake District, however we did feel that the sofas and armchair could do with being updated. Obviously bearing in mind that these items are likely to be sat on by tenants who have been just returned from a long hike or cycle in the fells and may not be in the cleanest of clothes, therefore appreciating that the owner may not want to furnish the room with anything too plush.

Hot water and heating was readily available as and when it was needed. The property also had good Wi-fi and a landline which was helpful as our mobile network signal was pretty much non existent. There was a nice mature garden to the cottage and off road private parking for two vehicles opposite the front of the house which was great.

With a small general store and pubs within walking distance We had no problems in shopping for groceries or finding somewhere to eat out in the evening.

We would highly recommend in using Rigg Cottage for a stay in the Lake District and will be considering in using it again ourselves in the near future.

Hi James, thank you for taking the time to write a review. I'm glad you enjoyed your break, it's the perfect place to get away from it all isn't it? The location is idyllic, ideal if you enjoy getting out for some good walks.
I've noted your feedback about the sofas and armchair, thank you. I'll look into it.
I hope you can come back to explore more of the Lakes soon.
