- An absolutely beautiful cottage in a stunning location. It was the perfect long weekend for my fiance and I, as we just wanted a few days to escape from it all, go for a swim in the lake and climb some hills. It was also my fiances birthday!
The cottage was set in a perfect location, but if you wanted to get to anywhere (nearest shop, pub, etc.), it was either a long walk on the road or a drive away. But don't this put you off!
We spent much of the time in the cottage, enjoying the luxuries of a bath in the bedroom with a lovely view, as well as sitting on the back doorstep feeding the birds. We also walked down to Lake Coniston on a couple of occasions, and went for a dip. The jetty is only a few minutes walk away.
Keen parkrunners that we are, we headed to Ford parkrun on the Saturday. This was only about 25 minutes in the car from the cottage to Ulverston. A great challenging parkrun, with a lovely group of volunteers which we would highly recommend. On the Sunday we climbed the Old Man of Coniston. Little tip: we managed to find a space on Station Road near The Sun pub, free parking. Its a great walk, and quite tough in places. Hugely rewarding - even if there isn't a view from the top!
We would highly recommend this cottage, and will likely go back in the future - once we've explored the rest of the Lakes!
