General Description

Red House Lodge is a delightful period property which has been lovingly restored to bring it right into the 21st Century. Sleeping up to six people in three spacious and well appointed bedrooms, with a staggering panorama of mountains and situated just two miles from Keswick it makes an ideal family property for a break in the Lake District. With a stylish eye for décor, high spec appliances and comfortable furnishings the owners have made a comfortable modern cottage while managing to retain some of the original features of the 19th Century home.

On arrival at the property guests enter under the sandstone portico immediately into the large open plan living and dining space. After pausing for a moment to admire the stunning view from the living room you'll find it has an open modern feel about it with two deep brown leather sofas, a large wall-mounted SMART television and a wood burning stove set into an alcove for cosy nights in. The dining area has a substantial wooden dining set around which you can have long post dinner chats about your Lakeland adventures.

Moving through the hallway the modern kitchen is on the right. It has a subtle colour scheme and is very well equipped with a built-in fan oven and induction hobs. There is an under-counter dishwasher and washing machine as well as a large built-in fridge freezer and a microwave. The owners have provided all the crockery and cookware you'll need for your stay. You might find yourself doing the washing up by hand for an excuse to spend more time staring out the window at the fells.

Next along this corridor is a charming king-size bedroom. It has a wooden wardrobe and dresser for storage and a view to the flanks of Skiddaw to the rear of the house, while its large comfy bed and windows are decorated with elegant textiles. The corridor then leads along to the lower part of the house via a small step down.

Firstly to the charming twin bedroom (this has zip and link beds which can be made up as a super-king upon request) which still has evidence of the original beams in its quirky ceiling. Once again it has been decorated with flair and has a wooden wardrobe and dresser for storage.

The spacious master bedroom is an absolute treat with multiple windows bringing in every ounce of available light. It has a comfortable king-size bed, a wall mounted TV, a wardrobe and dresser and an indulgent modern en-suite shower room with a curved enclosure and mixer shower with large drencher head. Perfect for soaking away tired muscles after a day on the fells. The family bathroom is also at this end of the house, once again this has a modern white suite with over-bath mixer shower as well as a shower attachment in the bath making children's bath time easier.

Moving outside, guests have the run of a large enclosed garden with gated driveway. There's parking for at least three cars and spacious sloping lawns to run around on. The owners have provided outdoor dining furniture for enjoying al fresco meals with a view  of the slopes of mighty Skiddaw to the rear of the house. The roof of the house overhangs the path surrounding it, providing a covered area to sit and take in the glorious views with a morning cuppa or an evening glass of wine. Lastly, for those coming armed with bikes or boats there is a fantastic lockable outhouse for storing them safely or for letting your dog dry out after a dip in the lake!

It is worth noting that, while the garden is fully enclosed, the proximity to the road means that children and pets should be supervised at all times.
