This is a wonderful 17th-century farmhouse, full of character and beautifully furnished throughout, in an amazing location at the head of Loweswater, one of the prettiest lakes in the Lake District. Sleeping up to eight people in four bedrooms, The Place is the perfect retreat for large families or groups of friends looking to spend quality time together.
Situated in one of the most scenic areas of the Lake District, you will have easy access to the best of what the area has to offer – walking, cycling, boating and sight-seeing. And for those rainy or lazy days there is abundant living space, with a large LED Smart TV, huge library of movies and broadband. The games barn keeps all the competitive members of the party happy with pool, table tennis and table football, sofas for lounging and a speaker for your music.
Loweswater is a tranquil, unspoilt location in the western Lake District. Ancient woodland cloaks the lower slopes of Burnbank Fell and Carling Knott right down to the side of the lake. These woodlands are home to many rare and interesting wildlife including red squirrels, deer and many species of birds.

The utility room (accessed from the back door) has boot storage, hanging space, a Victorian style airer and a washing machine and dryer.
Off the utility room is a smart shower room with power shower, basin and toilet.
The lovely kitchen has handmade units and is kitted out with everything the most demanding chef could require.
The sitting room has a wealth of original features dating back from 1664. Here you will find ancient beams, original fireplace, a bread oven and salt cellar along with modern comforts - quality fabrics and furnishings, paintings, widescreen TV and Blu Ray player, Roberts Bluetooth DAB radio, record player and records, wood burner and stylish, yet comfortable leather sofas.
There is also a wood burner in the dining room which has a large dining table with seating for eight, a writing desk in the window looking out onto the Lake District fells and mountains, a large window seat to curl up and read in, an antique dresser full of vintage china and a selection of board games and books for you to use and enjoy.
There are more fantastic views from the dual-aspect downstairs bedroom which is furnished with style and consideration. The top quality bed is usually made up as a king-size but can be unzipped to make two small singles if you let us know this requirement four weeks before you are due to stay (or upon booking).
Upstairs there three further bedrooms and astonishing lake views - one with a king-size bed, one with a double, and a pretty twin with two singles. The bathroom is spacious with a freestanding roll-top bath and a large separate shower enclosure. There is a cloakroom with an additional toilet.
Outside the garden is lovely, large and enclosed. The barn houses a table tennis table, table football and a pool table. There is a dining terrace with log brazier, sitting out spots dotted around, a pretty summer house, and even a secret garden, which kids and adults alike love. The views of Loweswater and the surrounding mountains are amazing. It is the perfect place to relax with a cup of tea or a glass of wine.
