Very pretty Georgian house. The gardens in the front and behind the house are beautiful.

Very hospitable, friendly owners who left us an extremely
generous and much appreciated welcome pack - you won’t find that in the Central Lakes.

Near quiet Northern Lakes, Buttermere, Crummock, Ennerdale and Loweswater and also Solway Firth beaches & AONB. Amazing sunsets. Loved our stay. Had a very relaxing time. We would book again.

Park View is a lovely cottage with loads of space and all the stuff anybody could ever want in a holiday home. If I were to be picky, I'd like the light bulbs to be brighter, but that is being very, very picky. The beds were comfortable, wifi good enough for three impatient users (including a teenager!) from an ultra-fast broadband area, and there were so many towels and extra bedding we could have used a new one every time. There are lots of books and magazines providing local information available in the cottage (and a collection of Good Food magazines too!), DVDs and books to read, and toiletries were available if you forgot something. You really could turn up with almost nothing and be fine. The garden is beautiful, and the four chickens clucking about made it even more charming.
Pamela was fabulous and very welcoming, providing a wonderful welcome pack which made my kitchen packing completely pointless. She was on hand whenever we needed her, but, although living right next door and sharing the garden, never in the way.
The location is good for getting up to Carlisle quickly and down to Keswick in under 15 minutes, depending on traffic. If you want to be around Windermere, it's a bit of a drive, but the roads are good and quick. Our party climbed Skiddaw, Scafell Pike and Helvellyn, and all were easy to get to (Wasdale Head seemed the longest drive but early in the morning still only took a little over an hour).
I would definitely recommend Park View, as long as you're happy to drive to go out to dinner, or happy to stay in. There isn't much you can walk to in Bothel and we didn't try the local pub, so I can't comment on that, but it's the only venue within walking distance. That wasn't a problem for us at all, and I'm pretty sure you could get takeaway of every variety from Keswick, but we didn't try that either. We never drove more than 30 mins to eat, and there are plenty of very good places within that distance.
As for value for money, I can't remember the last time I got such good value for money in a holiday location!
Thank you Pamela - we really enjoyed our stay.
