This spacious holiday apartment is tucked down a quiet, access-only lane that houses some of the oldest houses in Eskdale, one of the Lake District’s most tranquil valleys. The light and airy apartment, sleeping up to 4 people with two pets, is situated in the grounds of The Orchards. The majority of the living accommodation, including the lounge with its lovely views to the fells, is on the ground floor and therefore suitable for the less abled.
Eskdale is a wonderful starting point for hundreds of walks, either on the fells or along the banks of the River Esk, which flows from Scafell at the top of the valley down to the estuary at Ravenglass, an old fishing village complete with a ruined Roman bath-house. The river has natural pools for swimming and is a popular place for canoeing and fishing. The famous Ravenglass & Eskdale Miniature Railway runs along the valley, its steam trains making the leisurely seven-mile journey down to the sea - The Green station is just five minutes walk from The Orchards apartment.
There are five pubs in Eskdale (the Bower House Inn and The King George are just a ten minute walk away), all welcoming children and serving real ales and a wide choice of good food. The village shop is just a five minute walk away and sells a comprehensive range of goods, including groceries, fresh fruit and vegetables, food to go, alcohol and newspapers.
